Ruff bracelet
The decoration of this Ruff bracelet, dating from the very end of the 1940s, recalls the ornamental vocabulary of the costume arts. This name refers to the small, stiff, pleated, fabric collars that emerged in the sixteenth century. The jewelry version of the ruff features a yellow gold fabric with honeycomb cells containing precious stones. Some versions only contain diamonds, while others alternate rubies and diamonds. This motif, found on different types of jewelry, demonstrates the virtuosity of the Maison’s savoir-faire and its taste for different gold finishes.
