Purse
This piece, designed in 1924, illustrates the continued popularity of pearls during the 1920s, as well as the recognition of purses as an established part of a woman’s wardrobe. The rectangular fabric purse that makes up the body of this piece is covered in pearls, as is the row of fringing along its lower edge—this type of purse also existed in round form. Indeed, its ornamentation exemplifies the heyday of embroidery. The platinum clasp is set with diamonds and onyx, crowned with two pearls that serve to open it, and attached to a small chain strap.
