This round, openwork brooch dating from 1924 combines naturalist iconography and stylized form. It represents an exotic bird with an onyx beak and diamond eye, perched on an onyx branch, framed by vegetation in a play of curves and sinuous lines. The bird’s plumage is particularly colorful, echoed by its surroundings: emerald leaves, sapphire and ruby fruit, and diamond buds. Its tail feathers and the vegetation occasionally extend beyond the platinum and diamond frame.
