The form of this nécessaire dating from 1927 is what distinguishes it. It is rectangular box with two compartments, each with a distinct function. The lower part contains a cigarette case while the upper part serves as a nécessaire for beauty products, including a compartment for powder and a lipstick case, both in yellow gold. The inside of the lid in this nécessaire has a mirror. The lively tones of the enameled yellow gold decoration show Art Deco’s predilection for color—one that continued beyond the 1925 Exposition des arts décoratifs.
