This table clock from 1934 stands out for its geometric volumes typical of Art Deco vocabulary, and illustrates the pronounced taste for rock crystal that emerged in the1920s. Its square steel dial is flanked by two pedestals of square-sectioned prisms resting on square stepped bases, all of rock crystal. These volumes pit the verticality and horizontality of the various planes against one another forcefully. This symmetrical construction is markedly architectural, reinforced by the transparency of the rock crystal that contrasts with the opacity of the steel.
