“Shutter” watch
This “shutter” pocket watch dating from the early 1930s is distinguished by its innovative form. It is a flat, rectangular timepiece made of platinum and yellow gold with two shutters concealing its dial when closed, operated by two yellow gold push-buttons that control a system of springs. This functional object, devoid of ornamentation other than the engraved initials and the strict use of two colors only, illustrates a marked preference for metal alloys, specific to Modernist jewelry.
