Minaudière
This Minaudière, dating from 1935, stands out for its black lacquer decoration enhanced by yellow gold lines radiating out from a slightly convex rectangular motif in platinum set with diamonds, and yellow gold corner molding. Black lacquer decoration was seen in the Maison’s creations from the first half of the1930s, notably for lighters and cigarette cases, before being used for Minaudières, and this radiating motif was also seen engraved on polished yellow gold Minaudières. The present example is a combination of the two: of the many black lacquer Minaudières and those in gold with a radiating motif created by Van Cleef & Arpels during the decade.
