Forget-me-not clip
The Maison’s creations from the 1940s are marked by a series of variations of different motifs, including the emblematic Forget-me-not jewelry range. This model was extremely popular at this time, as seen in the one hundred or so examples dating from 1940 to 1949 referred to in the Maison’s archives. The clip model reproduced here portrays a bouquet of flowers with deep-blue sapphire petals punctuated with diamond hearts. The flower stalks are made of highly polished yellow gold, which, in some examples, are knotted together with a “Forget-me-not” card. While these bouquets are distinguished by their naturalistic iconography, dear to the Maison, they also echo the nineteenth century tradition of “sentiment” jewelry. In the floral lexicon, forget-me-nots evoke memory and fidelity.
