Fern clip
The models referred to as Capillaire (Fern) or Grappes (Clusters) illustrate the return to a form of ostentation in jewelry during the post-war period, with creations of imposing proportions. This perennial member of the fern family is seen in clusters on brooches and earrings made in a variety of stones. While most of them have a yellow gold stalk dotted with diamonds, rubies, or sapphires, one model stands out for its use of platinum, ruby cabochons, and different-sized diamonds. This model was developed as early as the 1940s, but was met with continued success for a long while after, as seen in this example dating from 1961, conserved in the Patrimonial Collection.
