Cornflower Bouquet clip

This Cornflower Bouquet clip displays all the virtuosity of the Maison’s savoir-faire. Three cornflowers are gathered in a bunch, together with several polished yellow gold heads of wheat. The flower petals are made of carved chalcedony, known for its translucency and low saturation, here enhanced by a coating of blue enamel on the front side. This technique was used to transcribe the hues and depth of the petals, thereby contributing to the naturalist depiction of this meadow plant. Seven round rubies make up the heart of each cornflower, providing additional intensity. The delicacy and lightness of this composition echo the symbolism of the cornflower in the floral lexicon—that of “tenderness”—inherited from the nineteenth century.
