This piece belongs to a series of Modernist style brooches made at the beginning of the1930s. It is characterized by its contrasting colors and simple, overlapping, geometric forms, in keeping with the precepts of the Union des artistes modernes (UAM). It is decorated with a rectangular plaque of polished lapis lazuli engraved with the depiction of a dog, and framed by plaques of yellow gold decorated with cabochon- cut or buff-top precious and ornamental stones.
